Curriculum Vitae    Joachim Walter, Ph.D.

Joachim Walter died at 16th of June 2015
in consequence of a fatal carcinosis.
He found his last resting-place at the "Bornstedter Friedhof" in Potsdam

  • Since January 2014 cantor and organist at the Friedenskirche Potsdam Sanssouci, director of the Oratorienchor Potsdam, of the Vocalkreis Potsdam and of the Kantorei of the Friedenskirchengemeinde, artistic director of the International Organ Summer Potsdam

  • From 2005 until 2013 choir director and organist at the Parish Church in Preetz/Holstein

  • From its foundation in April 2004 until 2013 vice-president of the International Dieterich Buxtehude Society

  • From October 2003 Organ consultant of the Nordelbische Evang.-Luth. Kirche, from 2012 to 2013 of the Nordkirche, the former Nordelbien part.

  • From 2001 to 2013: teacher of organ history and organ aesthetics at the Musikhochschule

  • From September 1991-June 2006 choir director and organist at the Luther-Melanchthon parish in Lübeck

  • October 1997 - April 2000: doctoral studies (Ph.D.) at Göteborg Univ., Department of Musicology - GOArt (Göteborg Organ Art Center); defence on 10 April 2000, opponent professor Jürgen Thym from Eastman School of Music, Rochester N.Y., USA

  • 1992: organ concert diploma "with distinction" at the Lübeck Musikhochschule

  • 1991: A-diploma in church music at the Lübeck Musikhochschule

  • 1988: B-diploma in church music at the Lübeck Musikhochschule

  • 1983-1985: private studies with Prof. Christoph Bossert

  • summer semester 1985: studies in musicology, Scandinavian languages, and archeology at the Eberhard-Karls-University, Tübingen
